Assuming that you have an upcoming test and you haven’t completed your big fat syllabus, here’s what you gotta do to have the best chance for survival !

1. Flip through the chapter.

This is the first step. Just flip through the pages of the chapter you need to complete. You DO NOT HAVE TO READ ANYTHING. Just roll your eyes through the pages. Try to see how much information is there in each page. How many diagrams or graphs are there. This will create a mind map of the chapter in your head and you can foresee what to expect when you read the chapter.

2. Read the title and the subtitles.

Now read all the titles and subtitles that are there in the chapter. This will sharpen your mind map. Try to relate and connect between all the topics of the chapter. Do this step twice before you go for the best step.

3. Analyse what you should read.

If you have too less time left for your test, you need to skip parts you don’t have any idea about. But if you have time you can always read all of the contents.

4. Reading.

Now it’s time to read all that you have decided to read. Just do it this time.

5. Repeat.

Now to keep the information you just gathered in mind, you will need to repeat you lesson. If you have some time before your test consider repeating the chapter multiple times. Each time you repeat, you will find yourself taking lesser and lesser time to complete the session.

Remember the more times you repeat the better is the memory created.

Repetition is the mother of learning.

6. Pomodoro technique.

Read in 50 or 60 minute session. Do not go beyond that. Our human brain can concentrate for only so long. Have a 5 or 10 minutes break and return to work. Remember Not to check your social media feed during the break.

NOW GO WORK.
